Good core platformer here, I liked that the "endless" mode was like a whole 2nd game in there!

I did struggle a bit knowing what objects were just decoration in the background and which you could jump on. For example, in level 1 there's a crate you jump on, but then later there's another crate that looks identical that is in the background.

Another thing to consider is to make the camera look ahead when moving fast/falling, instead of trailing behind. Since it follows behind I had to make a couple jumps with a blind landing and died from an enemy I couldn't see.

Thanks so much for participating in the Jam!

Really liked the art style and the simple loop of dig and find gems, but watch out for demons! I accidentally dug too far down to where I was out of wood and couldn't make the jump up, whoops!

Thanks so much for participating in the Jam!

A cute little vertical shooter. I liked the idea of health powerups you could shoot and gain health from! Thanks so much for participating in the Jam!

Ha, what a bizarre little game. Love the art style!

Reminded me of Robotron! Loved how responsive the game felt - the little animations and damage taking were great.

I also really liked that you had to pick up drops to get points. Meant I wouldn't run around the outside and stay safe and had to risk some danger to get a good score.

I noticed the square enemies seemed to 'jump' closer to you when hit. Was this an intentional mechanic? It made me think twice about targeting them which was neat.

Thanks so much for participating in the Jam!

Love the title and the take on the theme! I really liked how as you upgraded your weapon it changed and had the stones added!

I struggled a bit with the movement - it was unresponsive to small inputs/slow to start moving. I also kept getting stuck on trees (maybe have the tree colliders around the trunk but not the leaves)?

Would love to see this fleshed out a bit more, could see it being a fun arcadey beat-em-up!

Thanks so much for participating in the Jam!

This was really cute! I loved the music and the sounds, they really brought the game together and made it this upbeat silly thing. I found myself smiling and laughing while playing it the whole time. Thanks for participating in the Jam!

Please review the rules. Two thoughts here:

  • If your research time is specifically for the game jam, and you're choosing to do that instead of something else you could be doing (chores, etc), then it counts towards your 30 hour total for the project.
  • You get 30 hours total for the project, feel free to spread them out however you'd like. You can do one hour every day or spend more time on some days and none on others.

Does that help? Good luck!

Thank you to everyone for joining the Jam.

I'm really happy to get over 50 participants! Hopefully everyone has fun and we can keep it going with more One Hour a Day Jams in the future!

This Jam's theme will be: Sticks and Stones

Feel free to interpret the theme however you'd like, and incorporate it into you game.

As the focus on this Jam is to make a game, share it with others, and meet other developers, the theme is encouraged but not required. If you can't think of a good way to incorporate the theme, or just plain don't like it, feel free to disregard it.

In addition, I've made a Discord server I'd encourage everyone to join and discuss your games! https://discord.gg/tXJCKAwGD5

Good luck, and happy deving!

Good idea! At first I wasn't going to make one but there's way more people than I was expecting! I'll go ahead and make one, especially to start building a community long term and for the next one. Thanks!

Exact same boat here!

I have a couple ideas not nothing concrete yet, I'm definitely open to suggestions!

Hello!

I've never run a Game Jam before, and I'm definitely open to any feedback/tips/advice.

Please let me know if there's something you'd like to see added, if you have any questions about the rules or how the Jam will run, etc.

Thanks,

Hank
